A true giant of Samba and one of the most influential figures to emerge from Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval, Carlinhos is a leading creative force of Acadêmicos do Salgueiro - one of Brazil’s most iconic and celebrated samba schools.

With over three decades dedicated to the art form, and more than twenty years shaping Salgueiro’s elite wing of passistas, he is widely recognised as the architect behind some of the most powerful, refined and unforgettable performances to ever hit the Sapucaí.

Carlinhos is the creator of the globally recognised “Samba Diva” methodology - a signature approach that goes beyond steps, cultivating presence, musicality, elegance and power. His influence can be seen in generations of dancers, Carnaval icons, and performers across the world.

From Rio to Europe, the USA, Australia and beyond, his work continues to define what it means to truly be a passista - blending precision, expression and undeniable axé.
