One of the most respected and enduring figures in Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval scene, George has spent over a decade leading the ala de passistas of Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel. Known for his unwavering commitment to excellence, he has built a reputation for elevating both the technical standard and performance quality of passistas, while nurturing the next generation of samba talent.
With foundations in street dance and Afro-Brazilian movement, George’s practice is shaped by rhythm, ancestry, and cultural identity. He has trained and mentored some of Carnaval’s most celebrated dancers, while also working as a choreographer across alas, carros alegóricos, and comissão de frente. His work sits at the heart of Carnaval’s living tradition - both preserving and evolving the form.
A highly awarded artist, his passista wings have received consistent recognition, including multiple titles as best in Série Ouro and prestigious honours such as the Estandarte de Ouro. His contribution to Brazilian culture has also been recognised through his invitation to the Academia Brasileira de Artes Carnavalescas.
Beyond the avenue, George is deeply engaged in social impact - using his work to promote cultural belonging, Afro-diasporic identity, and education.
From Rio to international stages, George brings not only technical mastery, but a profound connection to the roots and future of samba.
