An internationally celebrated dancer, choreographer, actress, and presenter, Thai began her artistic journey at the age of six, training in classical and contemporary ballet, capoeira, ballroom dance, and theatre. She completed eight years of formal theatre training and is professionally accredited.

Today, Thai teaches Samba no pé around the world and performs across some of Brazil’s most iconic stages. Her career spans major productions including Ginga Tropical and Samba do Carlinhos de Jesus, as well as extensive work as a competitor, coach, and teacher with the Brasil Samba Congress.

Thai is widely recognised for her remarkable versatility - moving seamlessly between Queen, Passista, Musa, Malandragem, Funk, the sacred dances of the Orixás, and theatrical performance.

Her movement is grounded in musicality, freedom, and deep cultural understanding, making her both a captivating performer and an inspiring teacher.

Her recent Carnaval trajectory reflects her stature within Brazil’s samba world:

  • 2022 – Queen of Carnaval

  • 2023 – Comissão de Frente, Portela

  • 2024 – Passista, Imperatriz Leopoldinense

  • 2025 – Rainha de Bateria, Unidos da Ponte

  • 2026 – Musa, União de Maricá

Thai is also a passionate cultural communicator. She is the creator of the program Plantão da Thai, dedicated to conversations around Brazilian popular culture - from dance and rhythm to cuisine and identity - and is a radio presenter on Rádio Jovem FM, where she hosts the program of the same name.

Thai returns to the Retreat with immense generosity, energy, and experience, offering participants the opportunity to learn from an artist who lives samba in all its forms.
